A Mumbaikar’s Heaven!

Image
‘A small city with a large population’, this epithet fits Mumbai like never before. For a city that is bursting on its seams,, life is meant to be both fast and taxing. It had the potential to become the center of ‘family values’, had it not been for the Mumbaikar’s penchant for short holidays. Karjat, Khopoli, Lonavla, Khandala, Chiplun, Ganpati Phule & Aamchi Goa! Each Mumbaikar has visited these places countless times in his/her pursuit of ‘family time’. And most definitely, they also had a wonderful time, but it is time to ask, is it enough? As SRK famously says “Thoda Aur Wish Karo…” Our families deserve holidays that are more than 2-day affairs too. So why not plan your next holiday to Corbett The Baagh instead ? If what bothers you are questions like ‘What is in store?’ and ‘What Do We Get to see/do?’, then your answers are right here. Here, you get to experience the jungle in its true form and expanse. 1238 Sq. Kms can be intimidating, but yes, it is indeed astoundingly...

Experience Kumauni Cuisine

Image
At Corbett The Baagh , we are proud of the environment we operate in and we are very mindful of the sensitivities of operating in such remote locations. As a resort we have tremendous respect and sense of owning for the Kumaon region and its people, who form a very large part of our team. Traditionally the Kumauni’s are hardworking, honest and their tales of  bravery over the centuries in the battlefield are well-known. The Kumauni’s are equally adept in the craft of cookery. Countless head chefs across hotels are from this region and that gives a hint of what the average Kumauni is capable of dishing out. This prowess in the professional kitchen hasn’t however done any wonders to Kumauni Cuisine in itself and it lies largely undiscovered due to lack of exposure and awareness. At Corbett The Baagh , we make it a point to expose you to this hidden treasure of the Kumaon region. The Kumauni cuisine is simple and essentially consists of only what is locally grown in the Himalaya...

BIRDING AT CORBETT THE BAAGH

Image
Corbett National Park is home to approximately 675 species of birds. The species range from common, rare, exotic, endangered to critically endangered, which makes birding in Corbett National Park both a discovery tour as well as a step towards sustainable tourism, which is the future of conservation. Due to the relative safety and ease of terrain, the Powalgarh-Kotabagh area was developed into a birding zone by the forest department a few years back and with that the enthusiasm for birding tours has got a major fillip in this region. Corbett The Baagh is located in close proximity to the Powalgarh-Kotabagh zone and due to its location in the same forest, the availability of birdlife in and around the resort is simply profound. Next to the resort are farm lands that are currently flaunting almost mature wheat grains. The succulent grains attract a wide variety of grain eaters including hordes of munias, sparrows, pigeons and more. The tall trees of the surrounding Sal ...

Easter Holidays extended weekend

Image
Alright, so it is Easter Holidays again & yes it is an extended weekend too. So what’s the big deal? Well, for the devout Christian, it is a big deal indeed! The date is believed to be that when the Lord was sacrificed at the cross for the sins of others. Three days after he was buried in his tomb he came back from the dead & surprised most his followers. A few, it is said, were sure of his resurrection. Easter is to cherish this grand occurrence and is amongst the most important festivals in the Christian calendar. For a vast majority of us though, it is a free holiday, courtesy our Christian brethren and is a time for catching up with family. It is that time of the year when the kids are free post their exams and thanks to the festival perpetually falling on a Friday, it invariably makes it a long weekend. Visiting the homes of Christian friends is another pastime many of us take time out for to help indulge in the various goodies that are unique to this great festiv...
